As your wedding celebrant, allow me to ease the pressure and lead you through the choices you have when it comes to putting your ceremony together, to kick off your day to remember with words and gestures that simply reflect you both. Whether that is formally – truly, madly deeply or informally full of fun and laughter, either way, it is your day, and ultimately, you will decide. Often, it will be a fusion of each. Only you can make that final decision.

Which symbolics to include that reflect you both? Handfasting or tree planting, sand ceremony or candles, jumping the broom or drinking from the quaich? There’s nothing better too than involving your guests, if that is what you imagine, with a band warming, a response or chant or simply a song.

A Humanist wedding is no easy option! It's your words that form the ceremony, and you will be assigned some homework, but, as ‘back to school’ as that may sound, it’s a great opportunity for you both to sit down and share the reasons you love each other and why being married to each other is your ultimate choice together.
